This is my latest and most complex painting this was the final result of meticulous research through every source available to me, my main one being the very fine work of author J.K. Lenton. Once I had the scene set I was able to use one of my models of the Lusitania to profile her sinking.
The painting depicts the Lusitania 10 minutes after the torpedo strike with power gone and no way to steer or stop the engines the dying leviathan propels herself under the Atlantic while spilling terrified passengers out of the lifeboats.
This painting is now available through the Arcs of fire gallery in Falmouth (please contact the gallery for the price of the original or prints)
