H.M.S. Ark Royal 1953

Project Description

This Ark Royal succeeded the WW2 carrier; she was built to a revised design in order to carry the new larger aircraft which were coming online at the time. She served the royal navy up to the 70s when a cash strapped government decommissioned her early and so she became the last R.N. carrier to operate fixed wing aircraft.

This model was built from a very old plastic kit which was very inaccurate and so the result you see now is roughly 70% scratch-built with plaster card and anything I could use to create the best final result. The model shows this fine ship in all her majesty and is now a very accurate representation of her early fit. This model was awarded a silver medal at the world show in 2013.
