H.M.S. REPULSE 1938

Project Description

H.M.S. Repulse was built in the First World War as a battlecruiser however she has become most famous for what happened to her in WW2; she became the first capital ship in the world to be sunk by aircraft while underway and fully battle ready.

This signalled the end for the battleship as a superpowers most potent weapon and changed naval warfare forever. This model is built from a plastic kit with a mass of etching added to represent the very fine detail work on these beautiful ships.

I chose to represent Repulse in her 1938 fit. This was the first model I entered into scale model world and she received a commendation from the judges. (See the painting section for my representation of Repulse in her final battle)
