H.M.S. Argonaut 1986

Project Description

H.M.S. Argonaut was a Leander class frigate; their design proved to be one of the most versatile the navy has ever conceived, this is most readily demonstrated by their long service lives.

The Argonaut thought in the Falklands war of 1982 she did not get away unscathed while patrolling an exocet missile smashed into the engine room fortunately it failed to explode, this saved the ship from total destruction, it also unfortunately resulted in the youngest fatality of the war. My painting was a commission for a former crew member he wanted the ship portrayed in her final fit and in pristine condition.
